Apprenticeship Guidelines
- In reference to the 24th July 2020 UGC Guidelines, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) can offer Apprenticeship/Internship embedded Degree programs.
- The programme enables HEIs to embed apprenticeship in general degree programmes to improve undergraduate students' employability and strengthen academia-industry linkages.
- Apprenticeship and internship are effective, structured training methods that provide real-world work exposure combined with theoretical learning.
- Students develop practical skills such as problem-solving, creative thinking, digital literacy, and teamwork through these programs.
- UGC formulated these guidelines to help HEIs produce employment-ready graduates equipped with necessary competencies and attitudes.
- The programme fosters cooperation between industry and academia to enhance learning outcomes and job-readiness.
- HEIs must establish a prior Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with relevant organizations, enterprises, or industries before launching such programmes.
Objectives
- To improve the employability of students pursuing undergraduate-level general degree programmes.
- To focus on outcome-based learning within degree programmes.
- To promote active linkages between higher education institutions and commercial, non-commercial, and industrial organizations.
